How does one start off their first post of a new blog? Oprah encompasses "la raison d'etre" of my new blog "yenspiration - the world of marketing, communications and event management".  We ALL have a passion for something (or someone) in this world - whether it's a sport, a field of study, a hobby... the list goes on. As I'm nearing graduation in an Arts and Business program with half a dozen internships under my belt, I'm starting to realize my own passions. I love communications (as an ex-introverted freshman, who would've thought I'd add a Speech Communication option to my degree or even join Toastmasters?) I love managing events. And I just love marketing. It's a broad term that has various definitions in the world of business so you may be wondering, "What is it about marketing that makes you excited?" It's a continuous cycle of innovation where organizations and individuals must challenge themselves to cater to their audiences. Marketing is interactive and you have an outlet to be creative - not only in the sense of branding, creative design and promotions, but how you solve problems, approach new campaigns to be "fresh", build on existing creativity to be innovative and ultimately make your mark with your product or service. That is why I love marketing.

I wanted to create a blog to showcase my "evolution" as a marketing and events professional. I'm hoping to build on insights gained through my experiences and observations on current trends or campaigns that catch my four eyes - and see how my knowledge, skills and experiences have evolved from the start of my career. So buckle up and join me on this ride, I promise it will be a fun one - beginning with glimpses of the Canadian (marketing) landscape.
